A Hidden Treasures of Italy Sampling of Cooking Lessons…
Hidden Treasures has many cooking class options that it can arrange for you at any point during your stay in Italy… from a single lesson of several hours, to a week-long total immersion.
The key to our approach is to always try tailoring our solutions to your own specific needs or desires in order to ensure that the experience is both personal and gratifying.
Here are two recent examples of cooking class opportunities which were arranged for Hidden Treasures clients, courtesy of The International Kitchen:
Tuscany – Figline Valdarno
Just outside Florence, in the town of Figline Valdarno, is the popular Ristorante Torre Guelfa, owned by English-speaking Chef Claudio Piantini. Chef Claudio, who is widely considered to be one of the rising stars in Tuscany, offers hands-on cooking lessons, teaching from an incredible number of dishes. For two persons, the class will be held in the restaurant's own kitchen, with lunch to follow in the restaurant; for four or more, you have the option of a class at his charming B&B farmhouse property, in Terre di Toscana. At the farmhouse, prior to the class, Claudio will proudly show you his fabulous fruit and vegetable garden, perhaps picking some items to use in the class. After the lesson, lunch is served either in the dining room of his own home, or, if weather permits, on the outdoor terrace or around the swimming pool, set among Claudio's own vineyards. For either location, class starts at approximately 9:30 AM, lasts for three hours, and is followed by your lunch with wine.
Amalfi Coast – Ravello
Come to Mamma Agata's cliff-top home in Ravello to learn Mediterranean and Italian specialties like pasta, pizza, cakes, and dishes made with veal, chicken, seafood, and fresh seasonal vegetables. Mamma Agata has been chef for some of the film industry's brightest stars, including Liz Taylor, Federico Fellini, Humphrey Bogart, Fred Astaire, and others. The hands-on and demonstration lessons will be followed by a gourmet meal on the terrace overlooking the sea, in the spacious garden surrounded by lemon trees and flowers. Class runs for approximately four hours, followed by lunch.
